The Lake House
Kate (Sandra Bullock) is in 2006 and Alex (Keanu Reeves) is in 2004. They both have a lake house connection as they both have lived / live there. They can send letters back and forth in time to each other thru' a mailbox outside this lake house. They fall in love thru' letters - a long distance (or should I say long-time) relationship ... Sounds pretty ridiculous huh ? well thats the story of this movie 'The Lake House' from Warne Bros.
At first, the story is just interesting or should I say different ... it needs you to bend your laws of time being a serial quantity omnipresent (and suddenly aanewala pal jaanewala hai sounds like a lie ) ... but then as the movie goes on, it gets pretty interesting .. an interested viewer would want to know how / why / when / where ... and when he looks for answers, he feels the beauty of the movie ... Dont get me wrong, I dont think its possible or realistic in any way ... but the director has done a good job to handle this delicate story well ... good acting by both stars makes it even better ... I would say a must see .. at least for the different-ness ( I am pretty sure thats not even a word but what the heck .. ) it brings ..
Its not something very very different for those who are in US .. I mean we already have ppl in different time zones right ? or even when we talk to ppl in India, they are already a day ahead of us ... if thats something we can accept, we should be able to accept that we can actually talk to someone 2 years ahead of us through mails etc ... its a stretch but not something impossible ... I like the concept... a well made movie indeed I would say .. ending may be could have been diffeent but its cool ...
In fact, its a pretty good Hindi movie story and I wont be surprised if we actually have a Karan Johar movie with Shahrukh Khan & Preity Zinta (or Rani / Priyanka) coming up soon based on this theme ...
Let me know how you like (or not) the movie as well ...
